Polar Expressions Tutorial

Open up all the materials and place them in the right places. Font to fonts, gradient to gradients,
images to psp file and so on. This tutorial was written for PSP 9.

1. Open Image 1 - background - polar expressions - Please leave the artist's signature intact.
For the purpose of this blend the background is simply the starting point.

2. Go into your material properties and bring up the materials palette.

3. Foreground color #96d3e6 or choose your own

4. Background color #376f83 or choose your own

5. Layers - New Raster Layer

6. Flood fill your raster layer with color #96d3e6 or choose your own - Opacity - 100
Blend Mode - Soft Light

7. Open image 2 - suzi - polar expressions - Edit - copy and paste as a new layer.
Opacity - 100 - Move to the upper left corner of the background. Blend Mode - Luminance
(Legacy).

8. Effects - FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss - Default Settings

9. Layers - Duplicate layer

10. Image - Mirror - Image 2 should now also be in the upper right corner. Opacity should
be 100 and Blend Mode should be Luminance (Legacy)

11. Open image 3 - suzi - polar expressions - Edit - copy and paste as a new layer.
Opacity - 100 - Move to the central part of the background between the trees.
Blend Mode - Screen

12. Layers - Duplicate layer - Opacity - 60 - Blend Mode - Normal

13. Open image 4 - suzi - polar expressions - Edit - copy and paste as a new layer.
Opacity - 100 - Move to the bottom right corner of the background.
Blend Mode - Screen

14. Layers - Duplicate layer - Opacity - 60 - Blend Mode - Normal

15. Open image 5 - suzi - polar expressions - Edit - copy and paste as a new layer.
Opacity - 100 - Move to the bottom right corner of the background next to image 4.
Blend Mode - Luminance (Legacy)

16. Layers - Duplicate layer - Opacity - 60 - Blend Mode - Normal

17. Open image 6 - suzi - polar expressions - Edit - copy and paste as a new layer.
Opacity - 100 - Move to the bottom left corner of the background.
Blend Mode - Screen

18. Layers Palette - Move Image 6 under image 5 and the image 5 copy in your layers
palette.

19. Layers - Duplicate layer - Opacity - 60 - Blend Mode - Normal

20. Open image 7 - suzi - polar expressions - Edit - copy and paste as a new layer.
Opacity - 100 - Move to the center of the background in the middle of all the bears.
Blend Mode - Screen

21. Layers Palette - Move Image 7 under image 4 and the copy of image 4 and above
image 3 and the copy of image 3 in your layers palette.

22. Layers - Duplicate layer - Opacity - 60 - Blend Mode - Normal

23. Layers Palette - highlight the copy of image 5.

24. Layers - New Raster Layer

25. Flood fill your raster layer with color #96d3e6 or choose your own - Opacity - 50
Blend Mode - Soft Light

26. Layers - Merge All Flat.

27. Effects - Mura's Seamless - Shadow - Settings - Offset X - 132, Offset Y - 132, Color R - 0,
Color G - 0, Color B - 0, Effects - 255. - Repeat

28. Effects - Unplugged Effects - Snow - Settings - Amount - 5

29. Image - Add Border - 5 pixels. Flood - fill with color ww sbg - crystal pattern - polar expressions
Effects - Drop Shadow - Settings - Vertical - -1, Horizontal - -1, Opacity - 100, Blur - 1, Color - Black -
Effects - Drop Shadow - Settings - Vertical - 1, Horizontal - 1, Opacity - 100, Blur - 1, Color - Black

30. Layers - New Raster Layer

31. Flood fill with color ww sbg - crystal pattern - polar expressions or choose your own
Blend Mode - Screen, Opacity - 100

32. Layers - Merge All Flat

33. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen

34. Selections - Select None

35. Image - Add Border - 40 pixels. Magic wand - select border

36. Flood fill with color ww sbg - gradient border pattern - polar expressions or choose your own

37. Layers - New Raster Layer

38. Flood fill with color ww sbg - gradient border pattern - polar expressions or choose your own
Blend Mode - Soft Light, Opacity - 100

39. Layers - Merge All Flat

40. Effects - VM Instant Art - Spider Web - Settings - Rays - 53, Rings - 111, Merging - 85.

41. Effects - Unplugged Effects - Snow - Settings - Amount - 5

42. Effects - Graphics Plus - Cross Shadow - Default Settings

43. Selections - Select None

44. Image - Add Border - 5 pixels. Flood - fill with color ww sbg - crystal pattern - polar expressions

45. Layers - New Raster Layer

46. Flood fill with color ww sbg - crystal pattern - polar expressions or choose your own
Blend Mode - Screen, Opacity - 100

47. Layers - Merge All Flat

48. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen

49. Selections - Select None

50. Open image 8 - sbg - polar expressions - Edit - copy and paste as a new layer.
Opacity - 100 - Move to the left side of the large border of your frame, centered.

51. Effects - Drop Shadow - Settings - Vertical - -1, Horizontal - -1, Opacity - 100, Blur - 1, Color - Black -
Effects - Drop Shadow - Settings - Vertical - 1, Horizontal - 1, Opacity - 100, Blur - 1, Color - Black

52. Adjust - Add Noise - Gaussian - 30 - Monochrome checked. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen

53. Layers - Duplicate Layer

54. Layers - Merge down.

55. Layers - Duplicate layer

56. Image - Mirror - You should now have baby paw prints on both sides of your frame.

57. Open image 8 - sbg paw print - polar expressions. Edit - copy - paste as new layer.
Move into left upper corner.

58. Effects - Drop Shadow - Settings - Vertical - 1, Horizontal - 1, Opacity - 100, Blur - 1, Color - Black
Adjust - Add Noise - Gaussian - 30 - Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen

59. Image - Rotate - Free Rotate - Settings - Left - 20

60. Layers - Duplicate Layer

61. Layers - Merge down.

62. Effects - Simple filter - Top Left Mirror.

63. Layers - Merge - merge all flat

64.To add your name go to font - P22 Imperial Script - size 24 - stroke 0 - anti-alias - smooth.
Use the color or pattern or gradient of your choice. Effects - 3D effects - drop shadow - settings:
vertical 1 - horizontal 1 - opacity 100 - blur 1 - color black. I used color ww sbg - crystal pattern -
polar expressions.

65. Layers Palette - Opacity - 100 - Blend Mode - Normal

66. Layers - Duplicate Layer

67. Layers Palette - Opacity - 100 - Blend Mode - Screen

68. Layers - Merge - Merge all flat

69. Save your work. You're all done.
