Seen The Dark Side Tutorial

Open up all the materials and place them in the right places. Font to fonts, gradient to gradients,
images to psp file and so on. This tutorial was written for PSP 9.

1. Open a transparent image 640 x 480.

2. Go into your material properties and bring up the materials palette.

3. Foreground color #000000 or choose your own

4. Background color #026a73 or choose your own

5. Flood fill your transparent image with your background color.

6. Layers - New Raster Layer

7. Flood fill your transparent image with your foreground color.

8. Open image 1 - Gertjes Mask 37 - seen the dark side - Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image -
Source Luminance - checked, Invert mask data - checked. Apply mask.

9. Layers - Merge - Merge Group

10. Effects - FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss - Default Settings. Repeat

11. Freehand tool - Settings - Selection - Freehand, Mode - Add, Feather - 12, Smoothing - 10
anti alias - checked.

12. Materials Palette - Highlight image 1 - group . Use the freehand tool to remove the rectangle area inside
both the book parts of the mask. When you are happy with your result hit delete once and it should be black.

13. Effects - FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss - Default Settings. Repeat

14. Magic Wand - Select right side of book

15. Selections - Modify - Expand by 10.

16. Layers - New Raster Layer

17. Open image 2 - dieter - seen the dark side. Edit. copy and paste into selection. Blend
Mode - Normal - Opacity - 100. This should be in the right side of the book.

18. Selections - Select None.

19. Raster Deform Tool - Click on image 2 - dieter - seen the dark side. Move each of the four sides
until it is a little past the frame of the book and fills the entire side of the book.

20. Materials Palette - Move Image 2 - dieter - seen the dark side under the group layer. Leave image 2
- dieter - seen the dark side highlighted through the next 4 steps.

21. Effects - Mura's Seamless - Shadow - Settings - Offset X - 132, Offset Y - 132, Color R - 0,
Color G - 0, Color B - 0, Effects - 255.

22. Effects - Xero - Seasons - Settings - Red Cut/Boost - 0, Green Cut/Boost - 5, Blue Cut/Boost - 5,
Effect Strength - 255.

23. Effects - Xero - Mistifier - Settings - Haziness - 128, Strength - 128, Red Mist - 255,
Green Mist - 255 - Blue Mist - 255

24. Adjust - Brightness and Contrast - Clarify - Setting - Strength of Effect - 1.

25. Layers - Duplicate image 2 - dieter - seen the dark side. Image - Mirror

26. Materials Palette - Highlight copy of image 2 - dieter. Blend Mode - Normal. Opacity - 50

27. Open image 3 - johanna - seen the dark side. Edit. copy and paste as a new layer. Blend
Mode - Normal - Opacity - 100. Move to the left side of the book.

28. Image - Resize 45% - resize all layers unchecked.

29. Reposition Image 3 - johanna - seen the dark side so she is sitting in the left bottom corner of
the book.

30. Materials Palette - Move Image 3 - johanna - seen the dark side under the group layer.

31. Open image 4 - monique - seen the dark side. Edit. copy and paste as a new layer. Blend
Mode - Normal - Opacity - 40. Move to the left side of the book.

32. Image - Resize 45% - resize all layers unchecked.

33. Image - Mirror

34. Reposition Image 4 - monique - seen the dark side so he is sitting in the right top corner of
the left side of the book.

35. Materials Palette - Move Image 4 - monique - seen the dark side under the group layer and
under image 3 - johanna.

36. Open image 5 - kara - seen the dark side. Edit. copy and paste as a new layer. Blend
Mode - Multiply - Opacity - 50. Move to the right side of the book where the sky is in image 2
- dieter - seen the dark side.

37. Image - Resize 45% - resize all layers unchecked.

38. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen

39. Materials Palette - Move Image 5 - kara - seen the dark side under the group layer and just above
image 2 - dieter - seen the dark side.

40. Open image 6 - dieter - seen the dark side. Edit. copy and paste as a new layer. Blend
Mode - Normal - Opacity - 60. Move to the right side of the book where the sky is in image 2
- dieter - seen the dark side.

41. Image - Resize 45% - resize all layers unchecked.

42. Image - Mirror

43. Adjust - Hue and Saturation - Colorize - Settings - Hue - 125, Saturation - 50

44. Freehand tool - Settings - Selection - Freehand, Mode - Add, Feather - 12, Smoothing - 10
anti alias - checked.

45. Materials Palette - Highlight image 6 - dieter . Use the freehand tool to remove all the areas that stick
out past the mask. When you are happy with your result hit delete once and it should be mask.

46. Materials Palette - Move Image 6 - dieter - seen the dark side under the group layer and just above
image 3 - johanna - seen the dark side.

47. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen

48. Materials Palette - Highlight Image 6 - Layers - Merge down into layer 3. Highlight Image 4 - Layers
- Merge down into layer 3. On the left side of the book, the woman. man and roses should now all be
on one layer. Leave this image highlighted through the next 4 steps.

49. Effects - Mura's Seamless - Shadow - Settings - Offset X - 132, Offset Y - 132, Color R - 0,
Color G - 0, Color B - 0, Effects - 255.

50. Effects - Xero - Seasons - Settings - Red Cut/Boost - 0, Green Cut/Boost - 5, Blue Cut/Boost - 5,
Effect Strength - 255.

51. Effects - Xero - Mistifier - Settings - Haziness - 128, Strength - 128, Red Mist - 255,
Green Mist - 255 - Blue Mist - 255

52. Adjust - Brightness and Contrast - Clarify - Setting - Strength of Effect - 1

53. Layers - New Raster Layer

54. Foreground color #000000 or choose your own

55. Background color #026a73 or choose your own

56. Materials Palette - make a gradient with your two colors - Settings - Angle - 45, Repeats - 1,
Style - Linear. Invert - unchecked

57. Flood fill your new layer with your gradient color.

58. Materials Palette - Highlight new raster layer flood filled with gradient. Blend Mode - Soft
Light - Opacity- 50.

59. Materials Palette - Move the gradient filled layer under the group layer.

60. Materials Palette - Close off the group layer, gradient layer, foreground layer and background
layer. Highlight the first open layer

61. Layers - Merge Visible

62. Adjust - Softness - Soft Focus - Settings - Softness - 90, Edge importance - 100, Include scattered
light - checked, Amount - 10, Halo size - 10, Halo visibility - 20 - Repeat once more.

63. Materials Palette - Open all the closed layers.

64. Layers - Merge All Flat

65. Open image 7 - sbg text - seen the dark side. Edit. copy and paste as a new layer. Blend
Mode - Normal - Opacity - 100. Move to the right side of the book and position within the book.

66. Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow - Settings - Vertical - 1, Horizontal - 1, Opacity - 100, Blur - 1,
Color - Black . This step is optional.

67. Layers - Duplicate Layer. Repeat

68. Layers - Merge All Flat

69. Adjust - Brightness and Contrast - Clarify - Setting - Strength of Effect - 1.

70. Image - Add Border - 2 pixels. Flood - fill with sbg gold pattern sample or color of your choice.

71. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen. - Repeat - Selections - Deselect.

72. Image - Add Border - 6 pixels. Select with Magic wand.

73. Foreground color #000000 or choose your own

74. Background color #026a73 or choose your own

75. Materials Palette - make a gradient with your two colors - Settings - Angle - 45, Repeats - 1,
Style - Linear. Invert - unchecked

76. Flood fill your transparent image with your gradient color.

77. Mura's Seamless Stripe - Settings - Color R - 0, Color - G - 0, Color B - 0, Effect - 125, Number
- 225, Width/Gradation - 110, Offset - 0, Direction - 64.

78. Effects - FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss - Default Settings.

79. Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel - Settings - Bevel - Straight (1), Width - 20, Smoothness - 2, Depth - 2,
Ambience - 8, Shininess - 18, Color - white, Angle - 315, Intensity - 37, Elevation - 37.

80. Selections - Select None.

81. Image - Add Border - 2 pixels. Flood - fill with sbg gold pattern sample or color of your choice.

82. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen. - Repeat - Selections - Deselect.

83. Image - Add Border - 30 pixels. Select border with magic wand.

84. Foreground color #000000 or choose your own

85. Background color #026a73 or choose your own

86. Flood fill your transparent image with your background color.

87. Layers - New Raster Layer

88. Flood fill your transparent image with your foreground color.

89. Open image 1 - Gertjes Mask 37 - seen the dark side - Layers - New Mask Layer - From Image -
Source Luminance - checked, Invert mask data - checked. Apply mask.

90. Layers - Merge - Merge Group

91. Effects - FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss - Default Settings. Repeat

92. Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel - Settings - Bevel - Edge (3), Width - 8, Smoothness - 0, Depth - 4,
Ambience - -30, Shininess - 0, Color - white, Angle - 315, Intensity - 50, Elevation - 50

93. Selections - Select None.

94. Layers - Merge All Flat

95. Image - Add Border - 2 pixels. Flood - fill with sbg gold pattern sample or color of your choice.

96. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen. - Repeat - Selections - Deselect.

97. Image - Add Border - 6 pixels. Select with Magic wand.

98. Foreground color #000000 or choose your own

99. Background color #026a73 or choose your own

100. Materials Palette - make a gradient with your two colors - Settings - Angle - 45, Repeats - 1,
Style - Linear. Invert - unchecked

101. Flood fill your transparent image with your gradient color.

102. Mura's Seamless Stripe - Settings - Color R - 0, Color - G - 0, Color B - 0, Effect - 125, Number
- 225, Width/Gradation - 110, Offset - 0, Direction - 64.

103. Effects - FM Tile Tools - Blend Emboss - Default Settings.

104. Effects - 3D Effects - Inner Bevel - Settings - Bevel - Straight (1), Width - 20, Smoothness - 2, Depth - 2,
Ambience - 8, Shininess - 18, Color - white, Angle - 315, Intensity - 37, Elevation - 37.

105. Selections - Select None.

106. Image - Add Border - 2 pixels. Flood - fill with sbg gold pattern sample or color of your choice.

107. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen. - Repeat - Selections - Deselect.

108. Text Tool - Settings - Create as - vector, Direction - up and down, Font - Royal Classic Bold Size - 14,
Stroke width - 0, Font Style - Bold/Italic, Alignment - center, Anti-alias - sharp, Line style - solid. Type in your
name or initials.

109. Layers Palette - Select Vector layer and click on the plus sign in front of it. Click on the text and right
click your mouse. A menu will open up. Scroll up to properties and click on it. Stroke should be checked
and the little box should have your gold pattern in it. Fill should also be checked and should have your
red background color in it. Stroke width should be 0 and the line style should be solid. Visible
should be checked. Anti-alias should be checked. Once all these are correct click okay.

110. Layer Palette - Highlight your vector layer, right click on your mouse and convert to raster layer.

111. Effects - 3D effects - drop shadow - settings: vertical 1 - horizontal 1 -
opacity 50 - blur 5 - color black. Adjust - Sharpness - Sharpen

112. Layers - Duplicate Layer. Repeat.

113. As an alternative you may use your watermark.

114. Layers - Merge all flat

115. If you are satisfied with your image then you are finished.

116. You are now all done and I hope you enjoyed this tut.
